Tea flavor:
Gui Fei has a tendency to be tricky to brew. The first infusion before the leaves open fully will be a delicate preview of the artwork to come, including rich fruit fragrance and honey-like aroma complex with nutty and floral flavor. Latter infusions is a lot like Oriental Beauty with extra honey-like sweetness. As the mouth-feel fades after the 4th infusion, the nose continues.
Tea background:
Gui Fei Oolo to bloom like a lively fruity garden mixing a hint of floral aroma, and have lingering aftertaste. also known as “Concubine Oolong” is one of the sweetest oolongs. It’s one of the leaf-bitten oolongs.
A tiny grasshopper-type bug that feeds on the sap of young tea leaves. It causes the bitten leaf slightly "injured", and the natural immune system response in the plant evidently causes subtle changes in the leaf's chemistry, along with the slight oxidation of the leaf caused by the minuscule insect bites while the leaf is growing.
The effect is an intense honey-like sweetness and distinct flavor that these leaves brew when they are properly cured.
